Police begin murder inquiry at Rangiora

Rangiora-sign2Updated report: Police have begun a homicide investigation following the death of a man at a White Street address in Rangiora.

Ambulance staff were called to the Rangiora address at 9.23pm on Friday, September 13.

A second man was transported to hospital by ambulance; his condition was described as moderate.

The Police are continuing investigations into this matter. An area of White Street will remain closed while police conduct a scene examination this morning.

Update: Police are investigating the possibility that a silver Subaru station wagon may be connected with the incident.

The Subaru station wagon was seen driving erratically on Lineside Road at 9.45pm.  The vehicle travelled south on the Northern Motorway before it was abandoned near the Ohoka Road off ramp.  The vehicle has been seized by police.

Police wish to hear from anyone who may have information about the incident including any suspicious activity they may have noted in White Street, Rangiora.

The injured man has been discharged from hospital and is assisting police with the investigation.
