Christchurch police are asking if anyone has information about a Burnside couple’s cat, Turbo, being shaved and then having a swastika drawn on it with a Vivid marker.

police-carTurbo’s owner Jess McGiffin, a photographer, posted images of the shaving and the swastika on Facebook.

Patches of fur and whiskers had been shaved or cut off when the cat returned home after the weekend attack. The Nazi symbol had been drawn in a shaved part on its back.

Police say the family has been very upset by the incident.

They ask: “Can you help police find who is responsible for this nasty attack on Turbo the cat? If you have any information that can help us please let us know. Phone police on 03 3637807, or if you would prefer to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
