Bail has been granted to a Rangiora man three days after his arrest on drugs charges.
John Raymond Wanhalla, a 29-year-old wool scourer, will have to live at an Ashburton address during his remand to a case review hearing on November 25.
Christchurch District Court Judge Phillip Moran also imposed bail conditions that he must not possess any non-prescribed drugs, and he will not be allowed to contact a named associate.
Defence counsel Rupert Glover said Wanhalla elected trial on charges of possession of cannabis, ecstasy, and methamphetamine for supply, possession of cannabis oil, and possession of a knife in a public place – Rangiora’s High Street – without reasonable excuse.
He was arrested at Rangiora on Tuesday after a member of the public reported a man allegedly carrying a knife in the main shopping area.
He was initially remanded in custody when he appeared in court in Christchurch the next day.
