Murder trial set for March

High Court-panoply1The trial of a man accused of a woman’s murder at a Linwood house in June 2012 has been set for March next year.

The trial of 53-year-old Timothy Joseph Foley, an unemployed Linwood man, had been meant to start in the High Court at Christchurch last week.

When it was unable to go ahead, it was remanded for a pre-trial callover before Justice Robert Dobson today, when a trial date of March 10, 2014, was set.

Defence counsel Paul McMenamin said the trial was expected to last two weeks.

Foley is charged with the murder of 41-year-old Michelle Mary Lawrence, from the date of the alleged incident on June 9, 2012, until her death in hospital three weeks later.

Foley remains in custody.
