Bail granted on stabbing charge

Police car-Sept2013-01Police did not oppose bail for a 21-year-old woman charged over an incident in which a man was allegedly stabbed in the head in New Brighton at the weekend.

The woman was granted interim name suppression and remanded by a Christchurch District Court registrar without having to appear in court, before being released at the Court House after being held overnight.

She had been arrested early on Sunday after the incident during the night in which a 20-year-old man was rushed to Christchurch Hospital with the blade still sticking from his forehead. He has been discharged from hospital after treatment and was at the Court House today.

The woman has entered no plea to a charge of intentionally causing the man grievous bodily harm. She was remanded on bail to August 25.
