Two men arrested after an armed police chase through the Barrington Mall appeared in the Christchurch District Court today.
Albert Enoka, 30, who appeared handcuffed with four extra police officers in the court room, and Lindsay Trevor Francis, 23, were remanded in custody to appear in court again on February 26.
Both men have been charged with assaulting a man using a samurai sword as a weapon, wounding with intent to injure the same man, assault of another man, unlawfully detaining a woman, and committing burglary while armed with a knife.
All the alleged offending was dated February 15, and Enoka was also charged that on February 16 he possessed methamphetamine and cannabis for supply.
The police allege the crime spree started with an aggravated burglary on Sunday night, and ended when the men ditched their car at the entrance of the Barrington Shopping Centre, where one was arrested, and the other was arrested later on Selwyn Street.
