Court House-Sept-2013-08A Christchurch man has been charged with injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after an alleged incident at the men’s prison on Tuesday.

Terence Junior Whaanga, 25, made a brief appearance in the Christchurch District Court today before Judge Raoul Neave.

He was remanded in custody without plea to appear by video-link on April 9.

Police allege that the incident occurred at Christchurch Men’s Prison where a sentenced prisoner was assaulted. He was taken to hospital but released back to prison that night.

Police say the investigation is continuing. Whaanga is alleged to have jointly committed the assault with two other named men who have not yet appeared in court.
