Court House-general2Almost all details have been suppressed of a sexual violation case which was called for the first time in the Christchurch District Court yesterday.

Judge Emma Smith granted a police application for the details of the case to be suppressed.

She allowed media to report that a man had appeared on two sexual violation charges, and that the man was remanded on bail to July 27 for a Crown case review after he pleaded not guilty. Further details of the charges may not be reported.

Defence counsel Richard Maze asked for suppression of the man’s name and that was granted.
