Court House-Sept-2013-08A burglary charge has been laid against a man already in custody for an alleged theft from Café Valentino in March that led to CCTV footage being posted on Facebook.

The new charge was at the Christchurch District Court today when Nathan James Wix, 37, appeared for a case review hearing.

Wix denies the theft from Valentinos. He switched lawyers today and was further remanded in custody for a further case review on July 14.

Police allege the theft occurred on March 24. Wix was arrested after the restaurant owner posted footage on Facebook showing a man walking through the back door of the premises and leaving with a chef’s bag containing his cooking gear.

Wix also faced charges of theft by a person in a special relationship, interfering with a car, and possessing tools for taking a car.

Now he has been charged with the burglary of a house in Poulson Street, Addington, on November 27.

Defence counsel Kiran Paima said Wix denied that charge as well, and it was remanded to the same case review session.
