Tourists injured in city attack

Police car-Sept2013-01Two tourists have been admitted to Christchurch Hospital after an attack by a group of up to eight people in the driveway of their backpackers’ accommodation in the central city.

The attack happened between 2.30am and 2.45am this morning at the address in Worcester Street.

One of the men suffered a broken jaw and the other received serious eye injuries, the Christchurch Police said.

Police are seeking any information from anyone who may have knowledge of this incident.  Please contact Canterbury Police on 363-7400 and ask for Detective Marc Boodee.
