Youth faced victims of underwear thefts

Court House-07A 16-year-old boy has now admitted eight burglaries in the Burwood area involving thefts of women’s underwear from washing lines and homes.

The youth had previously admitted seven of the charges but the Youth Court in Christchurch was told today that he now accepted all of the allegations after attending a Family Group Conference where he faced the victims.

Youth advocate Siobhan McNulty asked Judge Brian Callaghan to note that the FGC plan had been accepted and remand the youth on bail for a review of some aspects of the case in four weeks.

Judge Callaghan granted the remand. The youth’s name is suppressed because of the Youth Court jurisdiction, and additional suppressions were put in place today.
