Custody remand after alleged WINZ threat

Court House-general 3An Aranui man has been remanded in custody on three charges after he allegedly threatened staff at the Linwood Work and Income office shortly before 8.45am.

Mitchell Shane Moulton, 32, has been charged with being in possession of a pistol except for some lawful, proper, and sufficient purpose, discharging a firearm in Aldwins Road, and possession of a cannabis plant.

In the Christchurch District Court, Judge Bridget Macintosh remanded Moulton in custody, for a legal aid application, to a video-link from the Christchurch Men’s prison on October 19.

Police said Moulton allegedly tried to get inside the Linwood office but it was locked, and he threatened office workers, and security staff.

Police, including the Armed Offenders Squad, arrested Moulton after they found and stopped his car on Ferry Road, and caught him when he ran from the car about 9.15am.
