The police are appealing for witnesses to a series of fires in Parklands.
At about 2.30am on Tuesday March 22, emergency services were alerted to a series of fires in the eastern Christchurch suburb.
Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Ford said: “Three fires were located at three residential properties. Two of the fires caused damage to houses and the third to a vehicle parked up a driveway.
Police and Fire Service Investigators completed a scene examination this morning and we are now treating the fires as suspicious.” Police and Fire Service investigations are continuing.
“One of the houses sustained considerable damage. The occupants managed to get out of the address unharmed. Given the timing and location of the fires it is fortunate that no one was killed or seriously injured,” said Senior Sergeant Ford.
Canterbury Police urge anyone who has any information relating to the fires or saw any suspicious behaviour in the area in the hours before the fires started to contact Police by calling 363-7400.
Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
