Adam Kearns bail bid delayed

Court House-Sept-2013-06An application for release on bail for Adam Francis Murray Kearns, son of the so-called “Black Widow” Helen Milner, has been delayed to Friday.

The two-day delay was granted at the Christchurch District Court today by Judge Tony Couch so that the Community Probation Service could carry out further checks on a proposed bail address.

Kearns, 24, was remanded in custody when he appeared last week on a charge of causing the death of Nicholas Brent Morrison, 24, while driving with traces of drugs in his blood, and dangerous driving causing injury to a woman passenger.

The charges arise from an accident in Wairakei Road on December 9, when Kearns allegedly crashed into two parked cars near the Breens Road intersection about 7.45pm.

No bail application was made last week, and it was delayed again today. It will be heard by video-link from Christchurch Men’s Prison on Friday morning.

Milner was jailed for life for the murder of her husband, Philip James Nisbet, in 2009.
