Court House-entranceA second person has been charged with helping to conceal evidence after the alleged murder of Marcus Luke Tucker whose bashed and burnt body was found near Lake Ellesmere.

Anthony Richard Dawson, a 28-year-old supervisor from Leeston, appeared in the Christchurch District Court and was remanded in custody to appear again on Wednesday afternoon.

He is charged that on April 24, at Leeston, knowing that Peter John Carroll had committed the crime of murder, he actively suppressed evidence to enable Carroll to avoid arrest.

The body of 36-year-old Tucker was found on April 25, wrapped and dumped in the Doyleston area near the lake.

Carroll, 51, has been charged with murdering Tucker at Christchurch on April 24, and has been remanded in custody to appear in the High Court on May 20.

A woman aged 31 was arrested last week and was also charged with helping Carroll to conceal evidence, knowing that he had committed the murder of Tucker. She was granted name suppression and remanded to the same High Court session on May 20.
