A teenager has been refused bail after being charged with the robbery of the Woolston Night and Day store in Ferry Road early on Wednesday morning.
Dominic Pomama, 18, was remanded in custody to appear at the Christchurch District Court again by video-link from the prison on April 3.
Pomama is alleged to be one of three men who robbed the shop of a small amount of cash and cigarettes about 1am on Wednesday.
The charge alleges Pomama jointly offended “with persons unknown”. It says that a bar was used as an offensive weapon in the robbery.
Defence counsel Tony Garrett sought Pomama’s release on bail but after hearing submissions, bail was refused by Judge Tony Couch.
He said a plea would be expected to be entered on April 3.
