An Avondale man has denied a drugs charge and a charge of being involved in an organised criminal group arising from police raids on Rebels MC gang premises in Christchurch.
Mark Allan Powhiro, 31, a bricklayer, was among people arrested in Christchurch and Auckland after the raids on March 2 at the end of a 10-month investigation.
He appeared at the Christchurch Court House again yesterday and pleaded not guilty before a registrar, who remanded him on continued bail to a Crown case review hearing on May 29 – the next step on the way to trial.
Others arrested in the raids have been remanded to appear on dates in late March and April.
Powhiro faces a complex charge relating to sharing the benefits from possession of methamphetamine and cannabis for supply, and firearms possession, when he knew or was reckless that the actions contributed to the objectives of a criminal group.
He also denies possession of methamphetamine for supply.
