A 22-year-old man has been remanded in custody on a charge of raping a 15-year-old girl in Christchurch last month.

Elijah James Coker, a Casebrook concrete worker, was remanded without plea at an appearance before a community magistrate in the Christchurch District Court today.

He was remanded to April 20, for an appearance by video-link from the prison, when an application for his release on bail may be made.

Police allege the sex attack happened in the early hours of Sunday March 5. The victim was found by a member of the public, in Linwood.
