Court House-Sept-2013-05A difficult woman with a long criminal history has been convicted and discharged without penalty for trespassing at a shopping centre where she says she went in out of the cold.

Margaret Mabel Dodds, 58, a voluntary patient of Seagar Clinic at Princess Margaret Hospital, has had trespass orders issued against her all over town.

She has been banned from some shopping centres, schools, a sports centre, parks, and buses. She has been the subject of a warning by the parent of a child on social media because of her aggressive behaviour, which also prompted the police to send a warning to schools that she could be abusive when asked to move on. She has also been jailed three times for her record which includes 19 assaults on her caregivers.

In the Christchurch District Court yesterday, police said she was trespassed from Barrington Mall for two years from July 20, 2012, but was spotted sitting on a seat inside the mall on November 19.

Public Defence Service counsel Craig Fletcher said she had been at nearby Barrington Park and had gone into the mall because she was cold. Judge Phillip Moran convicted and discharged her.
