Violent home invasion admitted

Court House-07A 22-year-old man who pleaded guilty to a burglary with a weapon and an assault with a weapon will be sentenced on March 24.

Timothy Matthew Booth was read the three strikes warning for repeat violent offenders by Judge Raoul Neave in the Christchurch District Court.

On April 27, Booth went to a sleep-out in Estuary Road, where his alleged co-offender picked up a brick and held a knife in his other hand.

They entered the sleep-out where the co-offender allegedly held the knife to the victim’s throat and Booth told him to drive the knife through the victim’s head with the brick.

The two men searched the sleep-out and removed property including a DVD player and a television.

Booth was remanded to March 24 for sentencing. A pre-sentence report, and reparation report were asked for.
