Police welcoming committee was waiting for banned driver
While police investigating two assaults were calling at a man’s St Albans house, the disqualified driver drove into the driveway.
The man has 11 previous convictions for disqualified driving and is currently disqualified so when the police realised he had just driven in, he was arrested on the spot.
He has admitted the charge at the Christchurch District Court today and Judge Jane Farish remanded him on bail for sentencing in March. He served home detention for a similar charge in 2008.
He denies the two charges of intentionally causing injury that led to the police visit.
