Couple ‘carried away’ to court
A couple charged with getting overly amorous in a park in Hornby ended up in the Christchurch District Court today.
Police prosecutor Chris Hunt said the couple were moderately intoxicated and were sitting on a public bench in the Shands Road reserve when they had sex.
Intercourse commenced in full view of the public, and when the 26-year-old woman appeared in court her counsel said she had no recollection of the incident, and apologised for her actions.
The 38-year-old man got a registrar’s remand to apply for legal aid to February 28, while his alleged partner in crime pleaded guilty to a charge of wilfully doing an indecent act in a public place.
Judge Raoul Neave told the woman: “There is a time and place for everything, and this was neither.” He fined her $750.
