Counterfeit note charges denied
A Sockburn man is denying charges of using counterfeit $20 banknotes.
Glenn Stephen Bielawski, a 30-year-old driver, indicated not guilty pleas before a registrar at the Christchurch District Court today.
He was remanded on continued bail to May 6 for a case review hearing.
Bielawski was arrested in February on charges relating to alleged offences in August of obtaining tyres and wheels by deception, dishonestly using four counterfeit banknotes, and unlawful possession of four forged banknotes.
Two further charges from February alleged unlawful possession of a Winchester shotgun and 22 shotgun shells.
Police issued a warning to Christchurch retailers last August after reports of counterfeit $20 notes being used at shops in the Riccarton area.
