Restart ordered for massage indecency trial
The trial of a 59-year-old masseur on 17 allegations of indecent assault was halted on the afternoon of its first day, and will restart on Tuesday in the Christchurch District Court.
Judge Stephen O’Driscoll dismissed the jury when an issue arose, and a new jury will be selected on Tuesday in the trial of Cunbin Zhang, who is accused of indecently assaulting four women who were massage clients at shops offering traditional Chinese oil massage, in two Christchurch shopping malls.
The Crown will call six witnesses at the trial, which is expected to last about a week. Zhang denies all charges which allege indecent touching of breasts, bottoms, thighs and pubic areas by a man who was employed as a part time masseur.
