Fish and chip burglary accused remanded

Papanui Police signA youth police allege was caught stuck in an extractor fan duct during a burglary attempt on a fish and chip shop has been remanded on bail to July 14.

Porou Tyman Lypton Wrathall, 18, of Northcote, entered no plea to the charge of burglary when he reported to a registrar who granted the remand at the Christchurch District Court today.

Wrathall is charged with burgling a fish and chip shop in Langdons Road, Papanui, on June 17. Police allege he was found after becoming stuck in the ducting for hours and calling for help.

His first court appearance after his arrest was delayed because he was admitted to hospital suffering from hypothermia and crush injuries.
