Assault on teenager at Edgeware

Police car-Sept2013-01Police are trying to find two women who helped a 15-year-old girl who was assaulted on Edgeware Road near Manchester Street on Thursday.

The girl had just got off a Metro Star bus about 11am, when she says she was grabbed from behind as she walked towards the Edgeware Village Shops.

The man threatened her and told her to keep walking.

She continued for a short distance before screaming out to get the attention of two women who were walking on the opposite side of Edgeware Road.

The man then left long Manchester Street.

Police are concerned about the motive for the attack and are seeking information from the two women who assisted the young girl before giving her some bus money, the Christchurch Police said in a press release about the incident.
