WINZ threat case transferred to North Island

Court House-Sept-2013-06Prosecution of a South Brighton man who allegedly threatened a WINZ staff member two weeks ago has been transferred from Christchurch to the Te Kuiti District Court.

Hunter Mangu Warren Montgomery, 47, an invalid beneficiary, has been banned from going within 100m of any WINZ office in New Zealand in the meantime.

He was arrested after the incident on September 4, and remanded on bail, but he has now been granted a registrar’s remand transferring the case to the Te Kuiti court on October 8.

No pleas have been entered to charges of threatening to injure the WINZ staff member, and unlawful possession of a knife in Hampshire Street, Aranui, later the same day.
