Carjacking accused remanded in custody
Bail was not sought for a man charged with an alleged Edgeware Road carjacking at the weekend.
Kevin John Rewa, a 53-year-old Edgeware resident, was remanded without plea for an appearance by video-link from the prison December 8 on a charge of robbing a man of a car while armed with a knife.
Police allege the robbery occurred on Saturday morning, and they made an arrest after the Armed Offenders Squad surrounded a man in the carpark of the Waiau Lodge Hotel in Waiau about 1pm.
Duty lawyer Michael Knowles told Judge David Saunders that bail could be considered after Rewa was a assigned a lawyer.
