Bail refused for drugs, firearms accused
The son of convicted “Black Widow” murder life prisoner Helen Milner, Adam Francis Murray Kearns, has been refused bail on drugs and firearms charges at an appearance in the Christchurch District Court today.
Judge Brian Callaghan remanded the 23-year-old Southshore man in custody to December 4, so that he can arrange legal advice. Kearns represented himself at today’s hearing.
He was arrested on Friday and remanded in custody when he appeared in court at the weekend, and made his bail application at an appearance by video-link from Christchurch Men’s Prison.
Kearns is charged that he possessed cannabis for the purpose of sale, three charges of selling cannabis, possession of a pipe for smoking methamphetamine, and possession of a bong for smoking drugs.
He is also charged with unlawfully having a restricted weapon, a taser, and a shotgun. He is also charged with failing to surrender a shotgun to the police at a time when there was a protection order in force against him.
He faces two charges of assaulting the same man on dates in October and November.
