Scooter rider admits obscene exposure
A scooter rider who “flashed” two women walking home in Rolleston has been remanded for sentence next month.
Patrick Frederick Walsh, 20, pleaded guilty to the charge of intentionally and obscenely exposing his genitals, and was granted bail for his sentencing on January 16.
Inquiries will be made during the remand about a restorative justice conference even though the woman who made the complaint has already declined to meet the offender.
The offence took place in Rolleston township at 11.50pm on Saturday when Walsh was riding a push scooter and approached two women walking home along Rolleston Drive after a night out.
Walsh stopped in front of them, lifted his top and slapped his chest. He then pulled his shorts down, exposing his genitals to them.
The women continued walking home but Walsh followed them until they called the police.
He then left the area but police soon found him. He admitted lifting his top, but denied exposing his genitals. He also stated it was stupid, and he did not know what he was thinking.
