Accused dairy robber held in custody
A 22-year-old was charged with aggravated robbery of a dairy in Aranui and denied bail in the Christchurch District Court today.
The charges allege that Jermaine Ruru, an Aranui steel fixer, was with a co-offender armed with a hammer when the dairy employee was threatened, and two men left with cash and cigarettes on January 31.
Judge Tony Couch said the charge was serious, and the co-offender wielding the hammer had yet to be positively identified.
He remanded Ruru in custody for a video-link appearance from the prison on February 26.
