Woman denies sex offending
A 71-year-old Christchurch woman is denying sex offending charges and the case is heading for a jury trial.
The woman was granted interim name suppression by Judge Tony Couch at an appearance in the Christchurch District Court today.
He remanded the woman on bail to a case review hearing on May 4. Defence counsel Trudi Aickin told the court the woman was electing trial by jury on all 12 charges.
She faces five charges of indecent assault on a girl aged under 12, three of indecent assault of a girl aged between 12 and 16, two of sexual violation, and two of ill-treatment or neglect of a child under 16.
