Court House-general2A 28-year-old who injured three people when he crashed after driving at over 169k per hour, pleaded guilty in the Christchurch District Court.

Dean Walter Louis was in Darfield when he got into an argument with people in a white car.

Louis drove off at excess speed towards Christchurch, and the white car overtook them near Kirwee.

Louis lost control of the car he was driving, skidded and crashed into two solid concrete pillars and trees.

One victim was thrown from the car and was unconscious, and another was seated in the rear of the car and knocked unconscious.

Louis called the occupants of the white car and they returned and drove the three passengers to Christchurch Hospital. Louis stayed at the scene of the crash until the emergency services arrived.

The car worth over $13,000 was written off, and a police serious crash investigator examined the scene and calculated the speed of the car at the time of the crash.

Louis received minor injuries, and one passenger had grazes and bruising over the front of his body, lost a tooth, and had stitches to his face.

Another passenger had a broken arm, grazes and swelling, and a badly bruised right eye, and stitches to his head.

The last passenger had bruising and swelling to her face, arms and legs.

Judge Jane Farish remanded Louis on bail for sentencing on the three charges of dangerous driving causing injury on May 22.

She referred Louis for a restorative justice conference, and asked for updated victim impact reports, reparation reports, and a pre-sentence report.

Last year, Louis was jailed for six months for receiving a stolen $40,000 vehicle at a car-wrecking business run by him and his father. Louis pleaded guilty during the trial and his father, 60-year-old Mark Walter Louis, was found guilty. Dean Louis admitted assaulting his father at home on the day their District Court trial ended.
