Investigation into sex allegations against driver
Police inquiries are continuing into allegations of sexual conduct involving a former Christchurch bus driver.
Christchurch District Court Judge Jane Farish lifted name suppression on the 63-year-old man, Robert Selwyn Burrett, who faces three charges alleging sex offending.
She suppressed the details of the charges, but granted bail and remanded Burrett to April 20 without plea.
Police said the investigation was continuing and wanted the man held in custody, but the judge granted the bail application put forward by defence counsel Rupert Glover for bail for Burrett.
She imposed a series of strict bail conditions: Burrett must live at a specified address and is not allowed any contact with children under 16 unless accompanied by his wife, who was in court; he is banned from contacting employees of a company and parents and children who may be part of the police investigation.
Judge Farish also ordered him not to apply for travel documents, and not to be in possession of any firearms.
Burrett first appeared in court last week. He has been in custody, with name suppression until today.
