Licensing for parenthood
Grappling with the sentencing of a young dad for domestic violence, Christchurch District Court Judge Jane Farish came up with the idea of a whole new licensing system.
She said the couple involved seemed immature and they had a long way to go before they could act in a responsible way, while they coped with the care of their daughter.
“You should be able to sit a test before you can be a parent for a child,” said the judge.
