The Great Golf Cart Heist
Four young men faced damage bills after what a lawyer called “The Great Golf Cart Heist”.
They have gradually been dealt with in the Christchurch District Court after what was described as a drunken escapade.
They broke into a building at the Waimairi Golf Club and went joyriding in the golf carts.
Guilty pleas were entered to burglary charges and various penalties – including diversion for a first offender – were imposed.
The total damage bill was more than $4000 – $1079 for each of them, said police prosecutor Glenn Henderson.
