Kaiapoi man on home invasion charges
A Kaiapoi man faces serious charges after an alleged home invasion attack in Oxford last month.
Police allege offenders broke into a rural property where the two occupants, a man and a woman, were sleeping about 4am on June 28.
The man at the house was seriously assaulted when the intruders said they were looking for someone who did not live there, the police said.
Eli Wiremu Williams, a 21-year-old assistant, was granted a registrar’s remand at the Christchurch District Court today on charges of burglary and injuring the man with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The registrar remanded him on bail without plea to July 30, to get legal advice.
