High Court-panoply1A 20-year-old Waikuku man has admitted a series of threatening and sex charges, involving social media contacts.

Karl Sheridan Salmon was remanded in custody to September 3 after admitting six charges before Justice Cameron Mander in the High Court at Christchurch today.

He admitted a charge of sexual connection with a young person – a 14-year-old girl who met Salmon over the social media site Facebook.

He also admitted a charging of making threats to kill her by text message and over another social media site, Snapchat.

Those threats in February led to the girl revealing her situation to her mother and a complaint to the police being made. Salmon was arrested soon after and has been held in custody since.

A third charge he has admitted of making objectionable publications involves him making videos of the sex with the 14-year-old girl taking place.

He has also admitted making threats to kill two other girls, and one of their boyfriends. Both girls – aged 14 and 15 – met Salmon over Facebook.

The sixth charge involves possession of objectionable images of an underage girl.
