Man admits burgling grandparents’ farm
A 21-year-old man has admitted burglary of his grandparent’s farm, and the aggravated assault of a man when he rammed his vehicle into a car that was blocking his exit.
Talor James Holmes, a farm worker, went onto the farm with an alleged co-offender to take firearms. The lock was cut on the arms cabinet and three rifles taken.
They left the property, but then discovered they did not have the bolts for the rifles.
Holmes returned to the address and took two rifle cases.
The victim became aware the burglary was happening and attempted to block Holmes with his car. Holmes rammed the car, causing moderate damage to it, but no injuries to the victim.
Holmes was arrested soon after on Culverden Road.
He told police his co-offender was a patched gang member who threatened him.
Judge Tony Couch remanded Holmes on bail for a restorative justice meeting, and ordered a pre-sentence report for his sentencing on September 25.
His conditions of bail were that he not leave the farm he works on, and have no contact with his alleged co-offender.
