Teen admits being in ram-raid car
The 17-year-old girl found in a car involved in the New Brighton ram-raids on July 29 has pleaded guilty in the Christchurch District Court.
Defence counsel Kiran Paima said Danielle Lesly Marie Pearce, of Bryndwr, was denied police diversion for the charge of unlawfully getting into the car.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Iain Paton said Pearce was involved in a police pursuit around Christchurch in a car used in ram-raids in New Brighton.
She was found in the car wearing gloves while her 21-year-old associate, Hamish Alex McDonald, was in the dairy that had been rammed.
Judge Gary MacAskill remanded Pearce on bail to October 28 for sentencing. He asked that a pre-sentence report addressing supervision be prepared for the sentencing, and told Pearce that he would get the report as she was associating with people who were leading her into trouble.
On August 4 her co-offender, McDonald, pleaded guilty to burglary of Z Energy in Hawke Street Brighton, the Challenge Service Station in Bridge Street South Brighton, and the Bower Avenue Dairy, all of which were ram-raided, and taking a car worth $4000. He was remanded in custody for sentencing on September 23.
