Office staffer denies $107,000 theft
An office administrator is denying stealing $107,000 from the Christchurch rebuild firm where she worked.
The 40-year-old woman, of North Canterbury, today entered the plea of not guilty to the charge of theft by failing to account for the $107,445 cash from a company that supplies contract and contracting services.
The police allege the offending took place over two years from November 2012 to January 2015.
Judge John Strettell remanded the woman on bail to a case review hearing on October 13.
Defence counsel Kerry Cook applied for name suppression and an interim order was made by Judge Strettell, which will have to be argued in detail at the next court appearance in October.
