More sex attack charges laid

Court House-general2A bail hearing for a man accused of sexually violating a teenage girl, and burgling a Phillipstown house, was delayed today as police laid eight more sex charges.

Corey David Fowler, a 33-year-old machine operator of Phillipstown, was remanded in custody for a video-link appearance from Christchurch Men’s prison on September 24.

Defence counsel for him today, Nicola Hansen, said there may be a bail application on that day.

Fowler now faces nine sex charges, one burglary charge, and one new charge of having entered a building with intent to commit a crime, he used a knife as a weapon.

It is alleged the teenage girl was blindfolded and raped at knife-point in her bedroom on August 12.
