Charges dropped in underwear investigation
Burglary charges have been dropped against a Riccarton man who had been arrested as part of a police investigation into thefts of women’s underwear from washing lines.
The charges were laid against Shane Andrew Brady in June, with the police appealing for anyone in the Riccarton area, who had had women’s underwear items taken from their property, to contact them.
The 44-year-old denied the two charges of burglary of addresses in Elizabeth Street, and when he appeared at a pre-trial call-over today the police asked for leave to withdraw the charges.
Christchurch District Court Judge Jane Farish allowed the withdrawal.
