Wounding charges denied
A 25-year-old woman has denied three charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm arising from a violent incident on the outskirts of Christchurch last month.
Stephanie Jane McGrath elected trial by jury at an appearance by video-link in the Christchurch District Court today.
McGrath and an alleged co-offender Alvin Ritesh Kumar, a 32-year-old factory hand, were originally charged with three assaults at a home in Johns Road on August 30.
At their appearance in court on September 8 police withdrew the assault charges and laid the more serious charges.
Police said two men suffered wounds to their shoulders and heads and were taken to Christchurch Hospital. A woman was also allegedly assaulted during the incident.
Kumar was previously granted bail, and remanded to a case review hearing on November 9.
Today Judge Jane Farish denied bail at a hearing for McGrath, and remanded her in custody to the same case review hearing.
