Court House-Sept-2013-07Police have laid three new charges against a man who allegedly threatened staff at the Linwood Work and Income office.

Defence counsel for Mitchell Shane Moulton, Donald Matthews, asked for a further remand at Moulton’s appearance in the Christchurch District Court today.

Mr Matthews wanted the remand so that he could discuss the new charges of threatening to kill a member of staff, another charge of discharging a firearm, and driving while suspended.

Moulton, a 32-year-old Aranui man, is already in custody on remand on charges of being in possession of a pistol except for some lawful, proper, and sufficient purpose, discharging a firearm in Aldwins Road, and possession of a cannabis plant.

Judge Tony Couch remanded Moulton in custody to appear by the video-link from Christchurch Men’s prison on November 19.

Police allege Moulton tried to get inside the Linwood office when it was locked, then threatened office workers, and security staff on October 6. He was caught by police including the Armed Offenders Squad when he ran from his car on Ferry Road.
