Assault, airgun charges denied
A man who allegedly assaulted his partner, and pointed an airgun at another woman at a birthday party in Rangiora, has denied the charges in the Christchurch District Court today.
Marcus Noel Read Cuthbert, a 36-year-old Okuku man, pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with intent to injure, assault, and presenting a firearm, in the alleged incident on December 12.
The party was at a friend’s home in the afternoon, and after the alleged assault Cuthbert left the property but was arrested soon after.
Judge Gary MacAskill remanded Cuthbert in custody to a case review hearing on March 7.
