Court House-Sept-2013-05No bail was sought when a third man appeared in court charged with a street robbery that led to the arrest of two alleged offenders after a car chase on Wednesday.

Shayne Grant Kavanagh, 24, was listed as having no fixed abode, but told the court he had been living at an address in Phillipstown until the time of his arrest.

Defence counsel Rupert Ward said no bail application was to be made and asked for Kavanagh to be remanded in custody to the same date as the two alleged co-offenders who appeared in the Christchurch District Court yesterday.

He was remanded to February 11, for an appearance by video-link from Christchurch Men’s Prison.

Kavanagh has entered no plea to the joint charge of robbing three youths of cellphones, clothing, cash and cards in the street late on Tuesday night.

Two other men were arrested on Wednesday after a car chase that went from Hoon Hay and through Cashmere before the car crashed near the corner of Tennyson Street and Colombo Street. They are now also in custody on remand to February 11.
