Murder charge laid
A charge of murder has now been laid against a 37-year-old man arrested after an incident on the banks of the Heathcote River on February 12.
The man, who has name suppression, had previously been charged with the manslaughter of Simon Prue and remanded in custody.
The new charge was laid at the Christchurch District Court today.
Judge Tony Couch remanded the man in custody to a High Court appearance on March 4 and continued the interim name suppression.
