Bail for youth facing stabbing charges
Bail was granted to an 18-year-old facing serious charges over an alleged stabbing incident in Warrington Street, Edgeware, early on Saturday morning.
Police did not oppose Carlos Joel Shadbolt being released on bail when he appeared in the Christchurch District Court before Judge Stephen O’Driscoll today.
He entered no plea to charges of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm to a man and a woman who were admitted to hospital for treatment.
Police said there was no connection between Shadbolt and the victims.
Shadbolt, from South Brighton, also faces a charge of having a knife in a public place.
Judge O’Driscoll remanded him to April 18 with bail conditions about where he must live, a night time curfew, no contact with the alleged victims, not to go near a specified address, and no consumption of alcohol.
Duty lawyer Aliza Eveleigh asked for the three week remand for Shadbolt to get legal advice.
