Rape of girls alleged

Court House-general2A Christchurch man facing three rape charges has been granted a remand on bail with interim name suppression at the Christchurch District Court.

The 21-year-old man is facing a total of 11 charges, allegedly committed in Christchurch between 2013 and 2015, involving three girls.

One of the girls is aged 13 and the other 14, and the age of the third is not stated in the charges.

He faces three charges of raping two of the alleged victims, and eight charges of age charges of having sexual connection with a young person.

A registrar granted the remand without the man having to appear in court before a judge.

He is remanded to appear again in the Christchurch District Court on May 6.
